Welcome to Fortune Entrepreneur website (including all websites to which this private policy is posted, ‘the site’) which is operated by Fortune Entrepreneur and its affiliates (collectively, “Fortune Entrepreneur,” “we”, “us” and/or “our”). This Site provides, among other things, information about our people, organization and application process, tools for applicants to submit applications and go through the application process, our programs (which include Black Creative Stars and African Food Accelerator program), our blog and press, and profiles of our founders, mentors, partners and companies that have participated in the Fortune Entrepreneur program (collectively the “Service”).

This Privacy Policy explains what Personal Information (defined below) we collect, how we use and share that data, and your choices concerning our data practices. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Use.

1. PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Personal Information You Provide: We may collect Personal Information when you create an account, subscribe to our newsletter, sign up for an event, or communicate with us.

Event Information: If you attend one of our events, or if you are an investor and you sign up to attend any of our events, we will collect Personal Information, which includes your name, email address, occupation, LinkedIn profile, location (city and country), interest-based data, the name and a description of your company or your fund and other information that we will use to manage, optimize and administer your participation in our various events (“Event Information”).

Black Creative Stars Accelerator Program Information: If you sign up for our Black Creative Stars Accelerator Program, we will collect Personal Information, which includes your name, email address, LinkedIn profile, gender (optional), and other information relevant to the program, such as your location of choice, and your work experience, and skills.

African Food Accelerator Program Information: If you sign up for our African Food Accelerator Program, we will collect Personal Information, which includes your name, email, location (city and country), LinkedIn profile, gender (optional), company information, and cofounder email addresses and other information that we will use to manage, optimize and administer your participation in the program.

Communication Information: When you subscribe to our newsletter or otherwise communicate with us, we may collect your name, contact information, and the contents of any messages you send (“Communication Information”).

Personal Information We Collect Through Our Social Media Pages: We have pages on social media sites like Instagram, Facebook, Medium, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn (“Social Media Pages”). When you interact with our Social Media Pages, we will collect Personal Information that you elect to provide to us, such as your contact details (“Social Information”). In addition, the companies that host our Social Media Pages may provide us with aggregate information and analytics regarding the use of our Social Media Pages.

Personal Information We Receive Automatically From Your Use of the Service: When you visit, use, and interact with the Service, we may receive certain information about your visit, use, or interactions (“Technical Information”). 5. CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS

California Privacy Rights

To the extent provided for by law and subject to applicable exceptions, California residents have the following privacy rights in relation to the Personal Information we collect:

  • The right to know what Personal Information we have collected and how we have used and disclosed that Personal Information;
  • The right to request deletion of your Personal Information; and
  • The right to be free from discrimination relating to the exercise of any of your privacy rights.

We do not and will not sell your Personal Information.

Verification: in order to protect your Personal Information from unauthorized access or deletion, we may require you to verify your login credentials before you can submit a request to know or delete Personal Information. If you do not have an account with us, or if we suspect fraudulent or malicious activity, we may ask you to provide additional Personal Information and proof of residency for verification. If we cannot verify your identity, we will not provide or delete your Personal Information.

Authorized Agents: you may submit a request to know or a request to delete your Personal Information through an authorized agent. If you do so, the agent must present signed written permission to act on your behalf and you may also be required to independently verify your identity and submit proof of your residency with us.

6. CHILDREN

Our Service is not directed to children who are under the age of 13. Fortune Entrepreneur does not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of 13. The Service may contain links to other websites not operated or controlled by Fortune Entrepreneur, including social media services (“Third Party Sites”). The information that you share with Third Party Sites will be governed by the specific privacy policies and terms of service of the Third Party Sites and not by this Privacy Policy. You use the Service at your own risk.
